Talia navigates the rising cost and stress of East Bay living with nerves of steel ... ish.
She's three credits short of a degree in History (a totally bogus, pass not pass incident!) at UCB.
Talia lives in a rent controlled bungalow with her roommate Geni who teaches 4th grade and is working on her 3rd doctorate in hermeneutical botany.
A telemarketer, dog-walker and part-time cocktail waitress, Talia enjoys sleeping in, criticizing others, binge watching TV series on Netflix, analyzing her childhood traumas and pilates. She was a National Merit Scholar.
Talia is bitterly jealous of her sister Ruth who married a techie hippy and lives in a big house in Piedmont. Talia goes there on weekends to "process" with Ruth, swim in her pool, pretend to read Kierkegaard and steal the Myers lemons off her tree.
She is on the verge of realizing she's a cartoon.
Pear Michaels
Pear lives in Berkeley and Oakland, CA with her husband, daughter and two cats. She still loves the Bay Area, where she grew up, except for the exponential traffic growth and escalating latte costs.
gRanola is a comic about living in the East Bay - once the epicenter of social revolution -where the techies and hippies now wage a cultural war for dominance. As a Bay Area native, it’s sometimes hard for Pear to recognize the once Bohemian oasis amidst the soulless, mind numbing consumersim. But it’s nothing that waiting in a long line for a ten dollar slice of rustic toast can’t cure!
